We connect local restaurants, grocery stores, and other food providers ("Givers") with individuals who claim surplus food ("Takers"), and community organizations and food banks ("Connectors") who help facilitate redistribution at scale.

We may collect approximate or precise location data to help match users with nearby food listings and facilitate pickups. Takers must grant location permission to see food available near them.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Operate and improve the FoodPin platform
• Match Takers with available food near them
• Send notifications about listings and pickups
• Generate IRS Section 170(e)(3) tax documentation for Givers
• Produce annual community impact reports for Connectors
• Provide customer support
• Communicate important updates and service messages

We process your information based on your consent, our contractual relationship with you, and our legitimate business interests.

We do not sell your personal information.

• Service Providers: With trusted third parties that help operate FoodPin, including payment processors like Stripe, hosting providers, and email services

5. Platform Role and User Responsibility

FoodPin acts solely as a technology platform that connects Givers, Takers, and Connectors. We do not prepare, handle, store, or inspect any food listed on the platform.

Givers are solely responsible for the safety, quality, and legality of food they provide. Takers and Connectors accept food at their own discretion and risk.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to provide our services, comply with legal and tax obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When no longer needed we securely delete or anonymize your data.

7. Data Security

We take reasonable administrative, technical, and physical measures to protect your information:

• Our platform uses HTTPS encryption
• Payments are processed securely through Stripe
• Access to data is limited to authorized personnel

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, request correction of inaccurate data, request deletion of your data, and opt out of certain data uses. You may exercise these rights by contacting us at foodpininc@gmail.com or through the app.

We use Google Analytics to analyze platform usage. Google Analytics collects anonymized usage data using cookies. You can opt out by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

FoodPin is not intended for individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16.

12. Account Suspension and Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate our terms, misuse the platform, or engage in harmful or unlawful activity. This applies equally to Giver, Taker, and Connector accounts.

In the event of a data breach affecting your personal information we will notify you as required by applicable law.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes we will notify you via email or through the app. Your continued use of FoodPin after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
